I’ve heard some Rino twits at the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic and elsewhere making absurd accusations that Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin are responsible for the rise of Trump simply because they didn’t trash him immediately after he entered the race. I have so much respect for these two, especially Mark. Rush is the pioneer of modern conservative talk radio. Mark is a brilliant scholar of Constitutional law and American History.
To say Trump is the front runner today because of them is a rather outlandish claim. For months Levin has been explaining why Trump’s protectionist trade agenda is a terrible idea. Limbaugh has said over and over again that Cruz is without a doubt the most conservative candidate.
If Trump does get the nomination and lose to Hillary (which he likely would); that burden would fall on Marco Rubio, whose massive ego kept him in the race and split the conservative vote until long after his campaign was clearly a lost cause; and John Kasich who is intent on dragging this into a brokered convention. It will be the fault of the cable networks, particularly Fox News, for their unfair and unbalanced daily Trumpathons. John McCain and Mitt Romney are also to blame for their pathetic failed attempts at the presidency, especially Romney who couldn’t beat Obama even after four years of his disastrous policies. It will also be the fault of Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan and the rest of the establishment that runs Congress who’ve rubber stamped every debt ceiling increase, funded Obamacare and Planned Parenthood, and surrendered their treaty power on the Iran Deal. They’ve angered so much of the GOP base that millions of Republicans have basically embraced a third party candidate within the party.
And ultimately that burden would fall on Donald Trump himself for running one of the dirtiest campaigns in American history; comparing his opponents to child molesters and calling them p*ssies, mocking a disabled reporter, his flimsy liberal positions, his lack of knowledge on the issues. Back in July, Trump mocked Senator McCain’s status as a war hero because “he was captured”. This was a slap in the face to all of our brave POW’s by Trump, who has never served in the military.
So if Hillary Clinton does get elected and pound the final nail in the coffin of American Exceptionalism, ensuring our decline by continuing the failed socialist policies of the last seven years, at least you’ll be able to explain how it happened.

In fairness and retrospect I have to admit that Rush and Mark sort of gave Trump a free pass when he mocked John McCain’s war hero status (I did too at the time). A few months into Donald Trump’s candidacy I think Levin realized what a disaster Trump was and spoke out against him more. Rush has spent his entire career talking about conservatism, yet when the most conservative candidate since Reagan came along he didn’t endorse, just stood on the sidelines. I lost a great deal of respect for Rush when he criticized Cruz for not endorsing Trump. I wonder if he would endorse a guy who attacked his wife and father. At least Levin was on the right side of that issue. Hannity isn’t even worth mentioning, he’s been Trump’s propagandist fanboy for the last year. I also would like to acknowledge that Glenn Beck saw what a dumpster fire Trump is from the very start.
